Links Reasons to go vegan The Peaceful Choices web site gives you all the information on why you should go vegan if you care about animals. Vegedog When added to Vegepet's real-food recipes, this supplement creates a nutritionally complete vegetarian dog food, which meets AAFCO standards for canines. Here's an excerpt from the web site: "Vegedog supplement is like magic. Just add it to ordinary people food, using our recipes as your guide, and suddenly the vitamin and mineral content of the food is adjusted for dogs. It's just that easy. Adjust the recipes if your dog needs to gain or lose weight. You have complete control." Does your pet food company sponsor cruel laboratory testing? Check this list of companies that don't conduct inhumane tests. If your pet food is not on the list, write to them and urge them to stop their lab tests. Then switch to a food that isn't cruel! Liquid Health Vegetarian Glucosamine Many vets believe that glucosamine can mitigate arthritis. "Killer Dog Toys" This article warns of the health hazards of vinyl and soft plastic toys. Natural Balance Vegetarian Dog Food This food provides the best meal for my dogs when I'm too lazy to cook for them. It keeps them in good shape, and they love eating it. I add a little flax oil, which has essential fatty acids, to guard against inflammation. Flax is good for humans, too! Evolution Diet My foster cats eat and enjoy Evolution's Gourmet Pasta vegetarian kibble, and they're in excellent health! I recommend ordering by phone: 1-800-659-0104. Mix with water! Please mix your animal's dry food with warm water before serving! Dry food is hard on the body's system and leads to dehydration. Alternatives for Preventing or Controlling Fleas and Ticks A factsheet from the EPA that includes alternatives to chemical pesticides. Scroll about halfway down the page for the information. Vegan Outreach A great source of information about factory farms and going vegan. Vegan Essentials A good place to shop! Halti Training Head Collar This collar stops dogs from pulling on walks. Old Mother Hubbbard Just Vegg'n Treats A great vegetarian treat for dogs, and a great value for money. Culture Clash by Jean Donaldson The best book I've found on dog behavior and training. Find an AAHA accredited veterinary hospital near you! The American Animal Hospital Association is the only organization that accredits veterinary practices in the U.S. and Canada. AAHA-accredited hospitals adhere to the highest-quality standards available. Study on the toxicity of BHA and BHT This medical study found that the artificial preservatives BHA and BHT, commonly used in pet food, cause tumors and promote cancer in animals. It speculates that the levels found in food and cosmetics are probably safe. But I urge you not to take that chance! Please read your labels and buy pet food preserved only with natural tocopherols (vitamin E). |
